It has been 29 years since Steven Spielberg and his talented crew launched the original “Jurassic Park” in 1993 as of the time of this writing (2022). Many of the effects were brand-new computer-generated digital composites, and they were surprising, mildly frightful, and most definitely unforgettable. The sixth Jurassic Park movie is very different from the first five. The special effects of “Jurassic World Dominion” are tremendous and never-ending. Even scarier may be a better word to describe it. And thus sums up the newest and, rumor has it, the final installment of the most storied and adored dinosaur film series ever. The producers, writers, and director must have been thinking, “Let’s go out with a BIG OL’ BANG if this is really the end of the Jurassic legacy!”

I’m not going to waste anyone’s “reading time” by going through the narrative (it’s been done 500+ times on IMDb and elsewhere). I’ll add that JWD seems like a warmly welcoming cast reunion, complete with the return of some of my favorite dinosaurs. There are also several intriguing “Easter Eggs” hidden throughout the film. I saw a number of them – apparent references to prior Jurassic films.

I truly enjoyed this film. As a child, I grew up watching Jurassic Park. Growing up, I saw all three movies every few months. I had the toys and used to dress up as a “dinosaur.” I even wore a “vest” and pretended to be Dr. Grant. It goes without saying that I am a great Jurassic Park fan. I recently saw this movie with my wife on Saturday, and we both liked it! First and foremost, they did an excellent job of resurrecting the original characters and integrating their stories with those of the new group. The dialogue between them, as well as the manner they interacted, was really well written and performed. The writers took pains to honor the original cast members.

How can you put an end to a narrative that has been with us for most of our lives? We’ve gotten to know these characters well enough to call them friends, and now that the end has arrived, what could be more fitting than gathering them all for one final adventure, one that will answer the questions raised in previous episodes, and give us hope that the future can embrace the past, and prove that what we’re becoming is better than what we’ve been?

Dear viewer, is right now on the screen in front of us, and it is a magnificent conclusion to one of cinema’s best narratives, as well as a wonderfully deserved epilogue to this profoundly human trip. Congratulations to everyone! And thank you to all of the artists and craftspeople who helped make this possible, as well as to Michael Crichton, the man who started it all.
